Cavity wall insulation: fast returns without hassle

In this article:

Cavity wall insulation is a fast and affordable way to make your home more energy-efficient and comfortable. Without renovations, you can save a lot on your energy bill. Arranged within one day, with subsidy possible. Ideal for older homes with an open cavity wall.

Did you know that you can save a lot on your energy bill without renovation? With cavity wall insulation you can make your house more energy-efficient, more comfortable and ready for the future in one day. No demolition or renovations, but a warmer house and a lower gas bill. At De Duurzaamste Bouwer we do this work every day – and we notice that many people are surprised by the great effect of such a relatively small intervention.

How does it actually work?

In many older houses there is an empty space between the inner and outer walls: the cavity. This space was originally designed to keep rainwater out, but does nothing against cold or draught. By filling this cavity with insulation material – for example mineral wool or EPS beads – you prevent the heat from escaping through the wall.

You will immediately feel the results: less draught, lower heating costs, and the cold stays outside where it belongs.

How much does it cost?

On average, you pay between €15 and €30 per square meter. For a terraced house, that amounts to around €1,000. If you have a corner house or detached house, the amount is somewhat higher. The payback period is usually only a few years. Certainly if you also use the ISDE subsidy, with which you can get a considerable amount back – certainly if you combine multiple measures.

What does it yield?

Cavity wall insulation is typically a measure where you don’t have to do much, but get a lot in return. Think of:

  • Less cold and draught in the house
  • A lower energy bill
  • A more comfortable indoor climate
  • A higher energy label (nice if you ever want to sell)

And perhaps the biggest advantage: it’s so easy to arrange. Your home is insulated within a day, without having to break or rebuild.

What should you pay attention to?

Not every house is suitable. Sometimes the cavity is already full, there is moisture damage or the pointing of the facade is not in good condition. That is why we always first check whether insulation is smart and safe for your home. We do this with an inspection with a camera in the wall and – if necessary – a thermographic scan.

We only use materials that fit well with the type of wall and the situation in your home. So no quick bulk jobs, but just good work, with attention.

Is it possible for you too?

We are happy to find out for you. You can request a free home scan from us . We will then see if your home is suitable, how much you can save, and whether you are entitled to a subsidy. No sales pitch, but honest advice.
