Solar panels on your roof: Is it still interesting?

Sure! Solar panels remain an attractive investment for many households. Let's take a look at the numbers.

The calculation:

1. Principles

- You have 10 solar panels of 400 Wp each (which stands for watt peak). The total cost is approximately €5000.

- The total yield of these panels is 3000 kWh per year (75% of 4000 Wp).

- You use 33% of this generated power directly yourself and return 66% to the electricity grid.

2. With Netting

- Personal use: 33% x 3000 kWh x €0.30 = €300 per year.

- Return with netting: 66% x 3000 kWh x €0.30 = €600 per year.

- Total: €900 per year, which represents a return of 18%. The payback period is then 5 years and 7 months.

Other options.

3. With Netting and Feedback Costs

- Feedback fee: €0.10 per kWh.
- Personal use: €300 per year.
- Return with compensation: 66% x 3000 kWh x (€0.30 - €0.10) = €400 per year.
- Total: €700 per year, with a return of 14%. The payback period is then 7 years and 2 months.

4. Without Netting

- Personal use: 33% x 3000 kWh x €0.30 = €300 per year.
- Return: 66% x 3000 kWh x €0.00 = €0 per year.
- Total: €300 per year, which still provides a return of 6%. The payback period is then 16 years.

5. Increase personal use:

- Without netting, you can strongly influence the return by increasing your own usage. For example, by using more devices during the day when the sun is shining.
- Please note: without netting, you will receive a market rate for return, which may fluctuate. In practice, the payback period will therefore be shorter than the 16 years mentioned.

In short, solar panels are still a smart investment, especially if you're optimizing your own power consumption.

"De Duurzaamste Bouwer transformed my house into a sustainable paradise."

De Duurzaamste Bouwer provided my home with energy-efficient insulation, and I am impressed with the results. My house feels noticeably more comfortable, regardless of the season, and I find myself much less dependent on my heating and cooling systems. The energy savings I am achieving are truly remarkable.
